What latency actually feels like on RDP
Distance to your data center decides how responsive your session feels, so it helps to know what the numbers mean before you pick a region. Under 10 ms, a remote desktop feels identical to a local machine; around 40 ms you notice a slight lag; at 80 ms it is usable but clearly remote; above 150 ms, anything beyond basic tasks gets frustrating. As a rule of thumb, every 1,000 km adds roughly 10 ms of round trip, so choosing the region closest to you or your users is the single biggest lever on how the server feels.
